Honest Thief
The Gold Rush era was a time of gangsters, gamblers and renegades; fortune-seekers who brought their own brand of justice to the American West. None more curious than the Honest Thief, a woman of legend who used her infamous lover’s ill-gotten gains to help those in need. Legend holds, upon hearing of his death, she stole a horse and rode along the Santa Lucia Ridge (present day wine country) unearthing his gold so that she might carry on his fight for justice. She evaded capture for years before disappearing into the history books.
